There is a full range of employment opportunities in Kansas City. Not only is it home to two major hospitals, St. Luke’s Medical Center and Truman Medical Center, it is also the home to eighty different company headquarters. Two of the most well-known companies are Sprint and Hallmark Cards, Inc.
Other area companies employing more than 5,000 people include DST Systems, Inc., St. Luke’s-Shawnee Mission Health Systems, and Ford Motor Company. The services industry accounts for more than 34% of the workforce with retail trade a far second at approximately 20%.
